SoftCo today announced that StorLife, the hardware independent compliant storage and lifecycle management solution from SoftCo, has been certified as compliant with the British Standards Institution’s (BSI) requirements for the storage of data.

The certification was assessed by Alan Shipman, Principal Consultant and director of Group 5 Training, the leading independent consortium of technical experts and consultants providing practical guidance on the implementation of Information Management Systems. Mr. Shipman is Chairman of the BSI Document Imaging Applications committee and a convener of the International Standards Organisation (ISO) Document Imaging Quality sub-committee.

StorLife fulfils BSI Code of Practice BIP 0008:2004, which refers to the legal admissibility of electronically stored information. StorLife ensures that audit information is treated with the same security as application data, a key requirement for data compliance. The BSI Compliance certification endorses StorLife’s method of compliantly storing data on magnetic disk and provides confirmation that the product holds the same evidential weight as paper-based data or content stored on optical disk.

“The certification is further proof of the importance and applicability of StorLife in meeting organisations’ compliance obligations using a truly open platform” said Garret Pearse, Product Manager for StorLife.
