Wexford, Ireland. Congratulations to SoftCo-sponsored trainer Paul Nolan who landed the prestigious Hennessy Gold Cup on Sunday, 7 February 2010, at Leopardstown. Nolan took the honour with the remarkable seven-year old gelding Joncol, providing jockey Alain Cawley with the biggest success of his career.
Nolan already has an impressive twenty-six wins in the 2009/2010 season, including Joncol’s Group 1 wins at the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase and Sunday’s Hennessy Gold Cup. “We have worked with Paul for 3 years and are delighted for all the team in Wexford. Paul Nolan decided to embrace a training career in 1996 and currently trains in Toberona Stables, Davidstown, in Enniscorthy. Nolan’s numbers average approximately fifty throughout the year, with a mixed string kept on the go for the lucrative summer festival meetings. Fourth in the Irish rankings, Nolan has had impressive Grade 1 wins in the current 2009/2010 season including; the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase, the Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial Novice Hurdle and the Hennessy Gold Cup 2010.
